Social Media Manager

We are looking for a Social Media Manager who can create a presence and build strong online communities through various social media platforms. The Social Media Manager will be responsible for developing and administering social media content that is designed to engage users and create an interactive relationship between the public and our non-profit. The successful candidate will also be required to collect and review social media data to develop more effective campaigns. 

Responsibilities include  - Develop social media campaigns that help to promote our missions. - Develop monthly reports on emerging social media trends that will be submitted to the board - Monitor the company’s social media accounts and offer constructive interaction with users - Create methods for finding and saving online customer reviews.

Director of Development (Fundraising)

 POSITION SUMMARY: The Director of Development is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all of The Moore Center for Marine Conservation’s fundraising including, the major gifts program, annual fund, planned giving, special events and capital campaigns.  The Director works closely with the President and the Board of Directors in all development and fund raising endeavors. 
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must embrace the mission of The Moore Center for Marine Conservation
  • Strong interpersonal and writing skills.
  • Have knowledge and experience in fund raising techniques, particularly major gift fundraising.
  • Possess the skills to work with and motivate staff, board members and other volunteers.
  • Have the desire to get out of the office and build external relationships.
  • Be a “self-starter” and goal driven to initiate donor visits and fundraising calls.
  • Be organized and exhibit “follow through” on tasks and goals.
  • Display a positive attitude, show concern for people and community, demonstrate presence, self-confidence, common sense and good listening ability.
  • A bachelor’s degree.

ACTUAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Meet prospective donors and supporters on a continual basis to establish effective communications with them.
  2. Grow a major gifts program including identification, cultivation and solicitation of major donors.
  3. Oversee grant seeking including research, proposal writing, and reporting requirements.
  4. Build the planned giving program with a focus on deferred gifts such as bequest expectancies.
  5. Direct the annual fund program, including mailings and annual fundraising drives.
  6. Direct capital campaigns and other major fundraising drives.
  7. Coordinate fund raising special events.
  8. Direct employee fundraising drives.
  9. Oversee prospect research.
  10. Work closely with the President  and Board of Directors.
  11. Make public appearances/accept speaking engagements to share information about The Moore Center for Marine Conservation with the community.
  12. Staff Board Development Committee meetings.
  13. Oversee fundraising database and tracking systems.
  14. Supervise and collaborate with other fundraising staff.
  15. Oversee creation of publications to support fund raising activities.
  16. Maintain gift recognition programs.
  17. Demonstrate professional conduct at all times.
  18. Perform other related duties as requested.

Grant Manager

Responsible for all aspects of raising support from foundations, corporations, and government sources requiring proposals for both unrestricted operating revenue and restricted projects.

Essential Functions:

  • Work to produce sufficient number and quality of prospects; to produce extensive institutional donor profiles; target appropriate ask amounts; and prioritize and evaluate prospects for corporate, foundation, and government grants.
  • Develop and prioritize projects and proposals: meet and work with staff to elicit projects and programs that need support; manage monthly meetings to vet projects and programs and set priorities for funding.
  • Develop and foster relationships with institutional funders: find personal connections with staff, board, trustees, volunteers, donors that will ensure the attention of institutional funders.
  • Provide stewardship for existing donors.
  • Generate proposals for: unique projects and programs; unique institutional and individual funders.
  • Write or supervise writing of all proposals, budgets, reports, and other ancillary materials.
  • Manage existing grants by: tracking grants; developing internal reporting systems; writing reports; maintaining excellent historical records; working with staff to ensure each project or program is meeting proposal conditions and expectations.
  • Monitor and manage grants income goal.
  • Assist with other fundraising projects as requested.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of fundraising information sources
  • Experience with proposal writing and institutional donors
  • Proven track record with institutional donors.
  • Knowledge of basic fundraising techniques and strategies
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written
  • Excellent computer skills 
  • Knowledge and familiarity with research techniques for fundraising prospect research.
  • Experience in program development.
  • Knowledge of contracts and agreements preferred.

Shark Research / Public Outreach Volunteer

This volunteer position will include the opportunity to assist with and conduct shark research along with public outreach opportunities to present information and education on shark and marine conservation. The applicant must be able to lift 50lbs repeatedly and be able to work on different types of vessels.  Past participation in the Coastal Marine Education and Research Academy summer program is preferred but not required. Volunteers must live within a 50 mile radius of Clearwater, FL and be able to volunteer a minimum of two days per month.
